Josephine Wood
Head of Secondary, GEMS World Academy – Abu Dhabi
With 20 years of leadership and teaching experience both internationally and in the United Kingdom, Josephine is a values-driven leader, passionate about providing a fully inclusive and innovative learning environment for all students.
Josephine graduated from the
University of Leeds with a BA Joint (Hons) Degree in Psychology and Sociology
and achieved a Post Graduate Certificate in Secondary Education in 2005. Josephine and her family moved to Abu Dhabi in 2019, where she took on the role of
Deputy Head Teacher with a focus on Teaching and Learning and leading on A
Level Psychology.
Since then Josephine has completed the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL), has become a High Performance Learning lead and trainer and has worked extensively across the GEMS Education network. Her role has involved leading the implementation and development of teaching and learning experiences that are designed to create a culture of excellence and high achievement among students.
Her passion for learning drives her commitment to creating educational environments that are not only innovative and challenging but also holistic. Josephine believe that it is our responsibility as educators to prepare learners to become world-ready, global citizens. This involves not only achieving academic results but also fostering the skills and mindset necessary for students to thrive in an ever-changing world.
